The Story behind the Seashell Collection January 10, 2021 10:23
For me, most of the inspiration for my bead and jewelry collections starts with a theme word or picture. In the case of the Seashell Collection, this Jacyn Damera photo from his and Paty's trip to the Turks & Caicos in 2019 has been percolating in my mind.

Then Paty brought out a batch of pink and orange flowers which triggered me to go back to the conch shell and zoom in on the colors.

So I pulled out my pink, cream, and orange beads from my stash of finished beads and laid them out together. One of my interior designer/fashionable friends saw the color combo and said, "ooh, I LOVE that color combination! Let me know when you create that collection!" And that catapulted the collection into existence.

Seashells
Spending time at the beach almost requires collecting shells. The discarded homes of these little mollusks are endlessly fascinating and beautiful. I love stumbling on beaches that are awash in seashells. This pristine beach in Whakatane, New Zealand with these black sand beaches was stunning. I loved the navy blue and white shells I found there.

Florida beaches are usually combed clean of seashells as they are frequented by a lot of people. But sometimes you can stumble on a fresh deposit of seashells after a high tide like below.

I knew one day I would need to do seashell collection. It took me six years. Now it’s the foundational collection of my jewelry offerings.
